When it comes turning up for the under 21 crowd, some might feel that we are limited to school-related events or other community social gatherings. These can be an absolutely great time but if you are like me, you want to do different things off campus as well. Going out can be fun sometimes, but we live in a city where underage people can get legally lit and still have a great time. So here are five places to turn the f*** up in Philly that are completely legal and fun for people under 21.
Electric Factory
Every weekend there is someone new performing at the Electric Factory. From Post Malone and 21 Savage to some local Philadelphia talent, this place is one of the best spots if you want to go see some awesome live music. What makes this place stand out is the cheap prices they offer for their events. Depending on who is performing that night, tickets can cost as low as $22! There are performances planned out to December, so make sure to check the calendar here and see if one of your favorite artists is scheduled to perform!
North Bowl
Now a bowling alley may seem like an odd place to turn up. However, this specific bowling alley is a great place to go on a Friday or Saturday night. The reason this place is so different is that it is so much more than just a place to bowl. The building itself has its own lounge that overlooks the lanes, pool tables, arcade games and even outdoor seating. The whole establishment has a very modern vibe and keeps its doors open until 2 am every night. In addition to all of that, it only costs $5.95 per person for a game. Union Transfer
Similar to the Electric Factory, Union Transfer is a medium-sized concert venue located in Center City. Union Transfer is another great place to go see live talent that the Electric Factory may not offer. It can be as cheap as $25 for general admission and has someone playing almost every night until December. Most events are for all ages, but be sure to check the website here as some shows might have an age limit. Union Transfer is a great place for those of you who might not be as into the big name bands, but still are looking to listen to some good music and have a great night out.
Comedy Cabaret
Maybe you don’t want to necessarily go to a place where you feel obliged to dance and jump around. If so, Comedy Cabaret is a great place to go and have a night of pure laughter. This spot is located in Northeast Philadelphia and offers entry to anyone 18 and older. It is a great place to see well-known comedians with past headliners like Kevin James and Ray Romano, as well as new comedians taking the stage almost every week. Also, Wednesday is always Open Stage Night, so you could even get up on the stage yourself! For most nights, admission to the club can be as low as $10 per person, and you can even buy tickets in advance here to ensure you get the best price. So for only $10 you get a night in the city full of laughter and fun? Sign me up!
Luxor Cafe and Hookah Lounge
If you are a fan of hookah, then this is the place for you. Luxor Cafe and Hookah Lounge is located in Center City and is a very calm spot where you and a couple of friends can go to have a good time. You choose what you want to spend, and the lounge is open until 2 am Fridays and Saturdays, so it’s a great place to just chill out with your friends. It is also known to have a great atmosphere, friendly staff and clean environment. With a great selection of hookah flavors, comfy seating and a relaxing atmosphere, you can’t go wrong with choosing to go here for a more low key night out with your friends.
There are so many more places to have a great time then just in a dorm or at a party on campus. Philly has so many amazing things to do, so go out there and experience them!
