It’s that time of year again…course selection! For many of us, it is extremely stressful because you think your schedule for next semester is going to be one way and then you end up with an 8 AM and three Tuesday, Thursday classes. Prior to this semester, I was an SJU D1 athlete and I was graced with a 7AM class pick time. Today, I am no longer apart of SJU athletics; therefor no 7AM pick time. Just like housing selections here at school, class selection times are a lottery. When you are an athlete or honors student you get priority pick times. This upcoming week, I will for the first time, have to choose my classes at 1PM (insert sad face). It sometimes just seems so unfair but after doing some planning and talking to friends I have come up with a few tips to help you get the classes you need and the times that you want.

  1. 1 SCHEDULE, 2 SCHEDULE, 3 SCHEDULE, 4!

It’s important that you make alternative schedules for the one you really want so that you   are not stuck making one up during your selection. If you rather not create 100 different schedules then have the other class times and CRNs for a specific class that you think will fill up fast.

2. HIGHLIGHT

Being organized and properly prepped is huge when choosing classes. I have found it useful to double check and highlight the CRN numbers for each class before my registration opens. There are always people who write down the wrong CRN or cannot find it. CRNs are the most IMPORTANT!

3. GET ON THAT WAITLIST

Just when you have lost all hope, remember that there are waitlists! If it is a class that you really need or want, chances are a couple people might drop the class at the beginning of the semester and you can slide right in.

GOODLUCK!
