Are you tired of rooting for mediocre sports teams here in Philadelphia?

Go to a Wings lacrosse game for a change!

The Philadelphia Wings are a professional box lacrosse team part of the National Lacrosse League. The NLL was founded in 1986 and currently has 14 teams. The Wings were one of the four original teams that started to play in 1987 and have won 6 NLL championships.

After the 2020-2021 season was cancelled due to Covid-19, the Wings are back in action!

Going to a Wings game is a perfect way to get off campus for a little while for a study break. You can get tickets for about $20. Wings home games are played at the Wells Fargo Center, also home to the 76ers and Flyers. Although the sports stadiums are a bit of a hike from Saint Joe’s, the facility and game day experience make the trip worth your while.

The fan experience is super exciting. You can feel the energy of the game from the moment you walk into the arena. Flames spurt out of the air in the pre-game festivities and the excitement doesn’t stop when the lights come on and the whistle is blown. The action is constant, fast paced, and up and down the floor. The games are physical and high scoring. What more could a sports fan want?

Be warned: Wings fans are extremely devoted and they know their stuff. Don’t be intimidated though. Just go along with the chants, harass the opponent’s goal tender, it’s all part of the experience.
