Opened in 2021, Paine’s Park is one of Philadelphia’s newest public skateboarding and BMX parks. It spans over 30,000 square feet of rails, ledges, transitions, and benches for those of all skill levels.

Philadelphia has a history with skating. LOVE Park initially served as a controversial destination for skateboarders to meet up. In 2002 The Franklin’s Paine Skatepark Fund began conceptualizing a place that combined “skateboarding, landscape architecture, and city planning.” Ground was broken in 2012, and it was finished on May 22nd, 2013.

Alex Connor, a recreational skateboarder, remarks on the atmosphere at the park. He claims it is loud and typically the people who go there are kind. The park also has a certain ambiance to it. It is located on the Schuylkill Riverbanks, which provides a scenic view of the river and surrounding forests. Not only that, but it is also covered in colorful graffiti.

Occasionally, the park will host local food trucks and host film screenings and live music. If you enjoy skating Paine’s Park is certainly worth a visit on your next trip to Philly.
