Katia Rowland is a freshman Food Marketing major and minor in Communications at Saint Joseph’s University. Her countries of origin are France and England, and she highlights how she is the first of her family to attend a college in the United States. Katia grew up in England just on the outskirts of London and she first moved to the United States in 2012. She lived in Arkansas until 2018 until her family moved to Pennsylvania. Although she is the first in her family to attend college in the United States, she plans to study abroad so she will be able to explore her homeland.
She was drawn to Saint Joseph’s instantly because she loved the campus and how friendly everyone was when she visited. She loves how you can enjoy a beautiful suburban campus, yet be so close to the city at the same time. Katia is also close enough to home that she is able to go back and enjoy family time when she pleases. Katia cannot wait to keep exploring the city of Philadelphia because although she has lived in the state of Pennsylvania for three years she was not familiar with the city. Katia also appreciates how the student body at Saint Joseph’s University encourages others to get involved within their campus. This has helped her get involved with multiple clubs on campus.
In Katia’s free time, she loves to ski and play around with photography. She is also an avid traveler and loves to explore new places.
Katia is excited to embark on her undergraduate journey for the next four years. I wish her nothing but the best of luck within her time here at Hawk Hill.
