Kaylie Porcello is a freshman Communication Studies major at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Porcello is originally from King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, not too far from Saint Joseph’s University, and graduated from Upper Merion Area High School last spring. Through being class president in high school, Porcello learned leadership and group work skills that she has continued to improve upon during her time at St. Joe’s so far.
Although Porcello did not have the normal college selection experience, she noted that St. Joe’s stood out to her for a few reasons. She enjoyed the atmosphere she observed on campus when she toured and thought that the campus was pretty. Porcello is also Catholic and after going to public school for her whole life, she thought it would be a cool and interesting experience to go to a religious college.
When she is not busy with school work, she can be found painting, drawing, or working out. She also likes to spend her free time hanging out with her friends outdoors and shopping. Porcello met two girls from her dorm building at St. Joe’s campus during her first day on campus. They quickly became best friends and continue to spend lots of time together helping each other navigate through the college freshman experience.
Porcello became a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority on campus this semester which has helped her to meet a lot of new friends. She hopes to run for leadership positions within the sorority later in her college career. Porcello plans on joining more extracurricular activities next semester now that she has adjusted to life on campus within the Saint Joseph’s University community.
