This monday on Good Morning America the Bachelor franchise announced the next Bachelorette to Bachelor Nation. The next star on The Bachelorette will be Clare Crawley, a 38-year-old hairstylist from Sacramento, California.
Some fans may not recognize Crawley immediately, but Crawley has appeared on many of the franchise’s shows. Crawley first appeared on season 18 of The Bachelor starring Juan Pablo Galavis. Crawley was one of the last two women on season 18, but was dumped at the final rose ceremony ending her bachelor season with a memorable quote, “I would never want my children to have a father like you.” Crawley then appeared on Bachelor in Paradise not once, but twice. She unfortunately did not find a forever love on her double run in paradise. She then appeared on The Bachelor Winter Games in 2018 finding an undeniable connection with Benoit Beauséjour-Savard. Beauséjour-Savard proposed to Crawley at the season finale, however the couple broke up a few months later.
On GMA Crawley revealed she found out she would be the Bachelorette just last weekend, and season filming will start Friday March 13th.
The young ages of many contestants this season has lead complaining within Bachelor Nation. Fans are concerned with contestants’ lack of emotional maturity on the show that is meant to find a forever spouse. ABC’s announcement of a 38-year-old bachelorette really took Bachelor Nation by storm. Many were hoping for a contestant on the current season of The Bachelor with Peter Weber to be the new Bachelorette, but many were on board with an older, more mature lead.
Reality Steve, a writer of reality TV, has revealed 14 men casted for the show their ages are: 28, 28, 25, 23, 28, 30, 40, 28, 31, 33, 26, 26, 28, and 28. Potential Bachelor contestants go through a series of interviews and auditions. The contestants are cast long before the lead is ever chosen every season. So many contestants pre-casted for season 16 have been cut due to their ages. According to Reality Steve 4 of the men casted have children, and producers have told many contestants they are no longer cast because of the age difference.
Clare revealed on Good Morning America that she thinks her age will be an asset. Many people have viewed her age as a negative thing, but for her she sees it as more “years under belt”. She knows what she wants in a spouse and what she won’t settle for anything less.
