Craving Satisfied at St. Joe’s Campus

Last year, then freshman and now current sophomore Fiona Flood was craving one of her favorite foods from back home. She loved buffalo chicken dip but did not have a kitchen in her freshman dorm and even worse, was not able to go out to a store to even buy it premade. But then she came across an idea. Campion, Subway (at DB), and the POD all had the ingredients she needed to make a small portion of her favorite dip right in her dorm room. Although it was not as easy as making it in a kitchen and it was a much longer process, she was able to make buffalo chicken dip without spending money out of her own pocket and without leaving campus. Ahead of the Super Bowl this Sunday, here is a Super Bowl favorite that can be made without a kitchen and without leaving Saint Joseph’s University’s campus.

After polling various students, we found that chips and salsa and chips and guacamole were also favorites amongst students at Saint Joe’s. These foods can be found at the POD and does not need any preparation.

Buffalo Chicken Dip:

Ingredients Needed: 

  • Cream Cheese
  • Chicken
  • Shredded Cheese
  • Buffalo Wing Sauce/Hot Sauce
  • Rand and/or Blue Cheese Dressing

Where to find these Ingredients: 

  • Cream Cheese: POD or take small packets from the dining hall, Campion
  • Chicken: Subway, order a sandwich with only chicken
  • Shredded Cheese: POD
  • Buffalo Wing Sauce/Hot Sauce: POD
  • Rand and/or Blue Cheese Dressing: POD

How to make Buffalo Chicken Dip in the Dorm:

To make the buffalo chicken dip, a huge fan favorite, is simple! First, soften the cream cheese and put it in a bowl. Then, add the buffalo sauce, ranch and/or blue cheese, and chicken and stir it all together. The amount of each will depend on preference to taste and the size of the bowl. Next, sprinkle shredded cheese on top and microwave!
