November is here and it is getting to the point when the fall season meets the holiday season. With finals coming soon and the semester almost over it might be fun to take a break and see what Philly has to offer in the fall. Fans of Saint Joseph’s Basketball have a lot to be excited about this year. Last year, the Hawks were plagued with injuries and did not have the best season that they were hoping to have. However, with several returning key players, the Hawks are looking to make a run deep into March and challenge for the A-10 Title. The Hawks face off against Princeton for their home opener on Saturday, November 18th at 7 PM. Princeton was an NCAA Tournament team last year, so it should be a thrilling match. One of the most anticipating things to come is this year’s reopening of Philadelphia’s John F. Kennedy Plaza, better known as Love Park. With the upcoming holidays, what better way to get your mind off papers and exams than to visit this new park. Check out the German-Christmas Village which offers chocolate, sweets, and other perfect christmas gifts. Love Park reopens November 18th, just in time to get your friends together and explore.
Looking for something to do before eating your life away during Thanksgiving break? Check out the Philly Marathon. With a course around the city’s downtown, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the beautiful Boathouse row, you can get your exercise fix for the holidays. This event gathers about 30,000 runners. Events such as 8K race, the half-marathon, a “Kids Fun Run” and a Health and Fitness expo is where you can get your exercise for the holidays. This event is on November 17-19 so if you want to join and be part of it you should definitely check it out!
One of the most special events around the city is the unforgettable visual show created by Macy every year. With more than 100,000 bright lights creating images of snowflakes, ballerinas and even floating reindeers they create a wonderful holiday spectacle. This four-story-high show brings many friends and families together and it is a great opportunity and a must during this upcoming days. If you want to check it out it starts on November 24 to December.
One of the most iconic and Christmas events in the city the Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest is the perfect event to go with your friends or on a date. Near the Delaware river the Winterfest features food, fire pits, 12 days of Christmas movies, and a skating rink with a view of the Ben Franklin Bridge. This is the perfect event to go and it will be open from November 24, 2017 to March 4, 2018. So get ready to skate your feet off and enjoy a perfect day surrounded with holiday spirit.
All these events are going around and since the holiday season is right around the corner what better way than to start a great season full of skating, shopping and drinking hot chocolate.
